Why Hunger

WhyHunger operates a national database, hotline, and texting service to connect people with free, nutritious food in their local communities, addressing food insecurity exacerbated by COVID-19. They strive to ensure that everyone has access to the food they need to thrive. Teens can help by updating the Find Food COVID Map, conducting research for new food sites, and maintaining the National Find Food Database, all from home. Additionally, they can volunteer as Hunger Hotline Advocates, answering calls and providing referrals to emergency food sites, requiring only a one-hour training session.
